Vegan Snack Review: Rigoni Di Asiago Nocciolata Hazelnut Spread
A review by VOA Social Media Specialist Amy Shafer
“Heaven. Sheer Heaven”
My life is narrated by my favorite movie quotes so when I bit into my cinnamon raisin toast with Nocciolata Hazelnut Spread, I heard Dustin Hoffman’s ladylike Southern accent from Tootsie declare, “Heaven. Sheer heaven.”
Nutella is this Hazelnut Spread’s most obvious comparison but unlike the familiar Nutella, Nocciolata’s version is vegan, gluten-free, organic, and palm-oil free!
While I remember liking Nutella in my pre-vegan days, I never bought it for myself and probably never would have. Since sampling a Rigoni Di Asiago’s Hazel Nut Spread, I have bought three more jars from Whole Foods in three months!
I can imagine that the condiment would be delicious on breakfast favorites such as pancakes, waffles, and french toast, as well as a great vegan ice cream topping, but, I haven’t ventured past toast and…finger dips. Don’t judge me! When you taste it, you’ll see!
A jar of this spread would be an exciting addition to the trail. It doesn’t require refrigeration, even once opened. It could be used for vegan s’mores for sure! Be warned though, it’s a messy snack and it’s not a health food.
You can buy Rigoni Di Asiago Nocciolata Hazelnut Spread at Whole Foods for $6.99 (Make sure you get the DAIRY FREE version because they have both). You can also buy it on Amazon.
